Ash Class

Welcome to Ash Class! 

My name is Mrs Mitchell, and I am Ash Class teacher. In Reception, we also have Mrs Baines, Mrs Mullender, Mrs Hastings and Miss Ibbotson who work with us. We are looking forward to our new Reception children joining us in September. Our first topic in September will be 'All About Me'.

Please can our new families ensure they are checking Class Dojo regularly and sharing our transition videos with your child. 

Our PE days this year are Tuesday and Thursday. Please come in full PE kit on these days. *In Reception PE days will commence from Week 2, week beginning Monday 9th September 24.

Our topic for spring term 1 is The Polar Regions. Throughout this unit, we will explore the unique characteristics of these areas and compare them to our own environment. The children will learn about the animals and people who inhabit these regions, discovering fascinating facts along the way.

As part of our learning journey, we will enjoy the classic story We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Inspired by this tale, the children will have the opportunity to create their own stories titled We're Going on a Polar Bear Hunt.

During spring term 2, our class will explore the topic of Change and Growth. We will study the life cycles of various animals and plants, providing the children with hands-on learning experiences.

As part of this unit, the children will have the opportunity to plant beans and observe their growth over time. This activity will help them understand the stages of a plant's life cycle.

Our PE days for spring are a Tuesday and Thursday. Our school library day is a Wednesday.
